The ultimate Japanese cooking sensation reformatted for access prime time.

Teams of eager culinary challengers compete with four resident Iron Chefs in a high-energy cook-off. In each programme, the Iron Chefs take on their challengers in a timed battle and must prepare superlative dishes based on each day's special ingredient, anything from aubergine to octopus. The dishes are then judged by expert food critics, with the winner declared at the end of the show.

In the stripped version, a week of programmes culminates in a grand ‘Friday Final’ where the best contender of the week goes head-to-head with the week’s strongest Iron Chef. And if the challenger wins this final cook-off, they win a cash prize. The competition takes place in an amazing pressure cooker of an arena called ‘Kitchen Stadium’, and the battle presided over by ‘The Chairman’, an enigmatic Japanese ring master who embodies the ancient heritage of the competition. Allez cuisine!
