RDF RIGHTS AND BETTY SIGN NEW TWO YEAR DEAL

18 September 2008

RDF Rights (RDFR), part of the RDF Media Group, has inked an exclusive two-year development deal with betty. RDFR will represent all new betty productions internationally, in all genres and all media. The deal also includes a first-look format arrangement with RDF USA in America.

RDFR and betty will kick off the relationship with the launch of three new factual series and three one-off documentaries: Shopping is my Life (4 x 60’ for BBC Three), Adopt Me
(3 x 60’ for Channel 4), and Country House Rescue (6 x 60’ for Channel 4), Desperately Hungry Housewives (1 x 60’ for BBC One), Addicted to Boob Jobs (1 x 60’ for BBC3), and Repossession, Repossession, Repossession (1 x 60’ for BBC One).

betty was launched in 2001 by Creative Director Liz Warner, former Channel 4 Commissioning Editor for Features and Events, responsible for programmes including Big Brother, Grand Designs, and Location, Location, Location. Andrew Conrad, former MD of Jamie Oliver indie Fresh One, and Bafta-winning executive producer (Jamie’s School Dinners and Jamie’s Kitchen) joined betty in 2006 as Managing Director.

betty’s previous credits include five series of Spendaholics, three series of Freaky Eaters (BBC Three), Arrange Me a Marriage (BBC Two) and Breaking Up with the Joneses (Channel 4).

Jane Millichip, COO, RDFR, said: “For me, betty’s trademark is their ability to translate the zeitgeist into quality, compelling television with broad appeal; whether through features, factual entertainment, or documentaries. We are thrilled to be representing them internationally.”

Andrew Conrad
said: “We chose RDFR for their commercial acumen and the strength of RDF USA. We believe our strong development combined with their commercial edge will be a winning collaboration over the next two years.

RDFR also has first-look deals with Celador, Rival Media, Raw TV, Firecracker Films, ZKK, Special Edition, October Films, Blast! Films, EVG, Blakeway, and in the US with Asylum Entertainment.
