THE GENIUS OF CHARLES DARWIN WINS AGAIN
22 January 2009

IWC Media's
The Genius of Charles Darwin has won Best Documentary Series at this year's Broadcast Awards. The series was also awarded a Scottish Bafta for Best Factual Series late last year.
Beating stiff competition from the
BBC's Earth: The Power of the Planet, the judges praised the series for 'bringing this fantastic subject to life, making it engaging, entertaining and extremely watchable.' The judges commended Richard Dawkins for his presentation: 'gripping, authoritative, he told the story confidently and succinctly.' One even admitted to being a 'Dawkin's groupie.'
Another programme distributed by RDF Rights,
My Street (Wellpark Productions), picked up the Best Documentary Programme award.
Both IWC Media's
Sex Change Soldier and RDF Television's
The Secret Millionaire made the shortlists for Best Documentary Programme and Best Popular Factual Programme, respectively.
In the International Programme Sales category both
Don't Forget the Lyrics and
Secret's of the Austrian Cellar were shortlisted.
The Broadcast Awards is one of the most anticipated events in the UK broadcast industry’s calendar, held to recognise and reward excellence in programme-making.
