KARRIE WOLFE TO SERVE AS US EMISSARY FOR RDF RIGHTS
29 September 2009
RDF Media Group is expanding Senior Vice President Karrie Wolfe’s role. Based in RDF’s Los Angeles office, Wolfe will serve as the main American point of contact for RDF Rights (RDFR), RDF’s distribution arm. On behalf of RDFR, she will now be charged with acquiring American formats from third party non-RDF producers to be sold worldwide. Additionally, Wolfe will be responsible for selling US paper formats to international broadcasters. Wolfe will continue in her current role to monitor international markets, looking to acquire international formats on behalf of RDF.
Wolfe’s new role signifies the expansion of RDF’s third party acquisitions strategy in the States. Most recently, RDFR picked up the rights to The Real World (Bunim-Murray/MTV), I Married a Stranger (A. Smith and Co./Fox), So You Think You Can Dance (19 Entertainment Ltd./Fox), and Tough Love (High Noon Entertainment/VH1), all of which will be shopped at October’s MIPCOM.
Voted the number one distributor in Broadcast Magazine’s Peer Poll for three out of the last four years, RDFR distributes over 5500 hours of high quality programming across all genres worldwide. It represents programming on behalf of broadcasters as diverse as truTV, MTV, Lifetime, Spike TV, Fox USA, Five, Channel 4, ITV and the BBC as well as over 80 independent producers.
Jane Millichip, Chief Operating Officer of RDFR, said: “Karrie’s experience and knowledge of the US production world will make a fantastic addition to RDFR’s acquisitions drive. Having a permanent presence in LA will make all the difference to producers and agents alike.”
Karrie Wolfe, Senior Vice President of RDF USA, said: “US producers are becoming increasingly savvy to the international market and looking for ways to maximize their content worldwide. I'll be linking these producers to our number one rated distribution team and ensuring their television properties receive maximum exposure in the foreign market.”
