RDF Rights (RDFR), part of the RDF Media group, is delighted to announce that it has acquired the rights to two singles and a major C4 documentary series from Ronachan Films, the indie set up by former Channel 4 Head of Documentaries, Angus Macqueen.
Five Weddings, Five Funerals (title tbc) is a 1 x 60’ investigative documentary for the BBC which details the extraordinary case of an American grandmother who allegedly killed five of her husbands. Labelled “The Black Widow” by the media, how did Betty get away with murder not just once but five times? RDFR has also picked up Lost Abroad, a 1 x 90’ film by this year’s Emmy winning director Louise Osmond for Channel 4. Every parent’s worst nightmare; your child dies abroad – but perhaps what happens next is even worse, From Paris to Germany, to the heart of a secret world in Tokyo, this film follows two families’ obsessive quest to find out what happened to their children in the face of an alien system where everything is ‘lost in translation’.
RDFR holds all international rights, excluding UK and Eire, to both films and will be launching them at MIPCOM 2009.
RDFR has also secured international rights to a major new Ronachan Films’ documentary series for C4. Still in production, The War on Drugs (working title) (3 x 60’) will expose the controversy and real-life drama of the war on drugs and asks can we win?
Angus Macqueen, founder of Ronachan Films said ‘we are really proud to offer this range of exciting, moving and truly engaging films.’
Jane Millichip, COO of RDFR said: ‘Angus Macqueen is an award-winning film-maker of international renown. We are delighted to have secured the first slate of commissions to come out of Ronachan Films.
