Chello Zone delves into RDF Rights’ Unsolved Mysteries
04 March 2010
Following the acquisition announcement of Unsolved Mysteries at MIPCOM 2009, RDF Rights (RDFR), part of the RDF Media Group, is delighted to confirm that leading international broadcaster Chello Zone has picked up the series for its real life entertainment channels, CBS Reality and Zone Reality.
The classic returning series features real-life cases of unsolved crimes, missing persons and unexplained paranormal phenomena. Unsolved Mysteries will be broadcast in the UK on CBS Reality, part of the CBS Chello Zone UK Channels portfolio owned by CBS Studios International and Chello Zone.
The series will also be aired in a raft of territories across Europe, the Middle East and Africa via Chello Zone’s international channel Zone Reality. RDFR announced back in October that it had secured the rights to the Unsolved Mysteries strand from Cosgrove Meurer Productions.
The six times Emmy-nominated series has been updated, re-scored, re-edited with new programme content and digitally re-mastered for Spike TV in the US. The series is presented by Law & Order star Dennis Farina. Unsolved Mysteries is one of the longest running series in the genre, and has helped apprehend countless criminals and solve many mysteries over the years. Almost half of the cases featured have now been solved and more than 100 families reunited with their missing relatives.
Liliana Lombardero, Head of Sales, RDFR said ‘we’re delighted Chello Zone has picked up Unsolved Mysteries. Cosgrove Meurer has done such a fantastic job in updating this high quality documentary series and we’re really pleased it will air on CBS Reality and Zone Reality, the perfect channels for the shows".
Sam Rowden, Chello Zone’s Director of Programming for Reality and New Media, says: “The award-winning Unsolved Mysteries encompasses real life drama, crime, intriguing stories and the unexplained, which fits perfectly with CBS Reality and Zone Reality.” RDFR holds international rights.
