RDFR secures raft of international sales for So You Think You Can Dance format

21 April 2010

RDF Rights (RDFR) part of the RDF Media Group has signed a host of new format deals plus several renewal deals worldwide for 19 Entertainment’s and dick clark production’s hit dance show So You Think You Can Dance.

Several international territories have picked up the rights to produce local versions of the show, including NDTV Imagine and Colosceum productions in India, SIC and Endemol Productions (Portugal), Nelonen in Finland and Viasat in Lithuania. All are due to launch later this year.

RDFR has also signed renewal deals with TVN and Mastiff in Poland for a 5th series, SABC and Rapid Blue in South Africa (2nd series) and a co-production deal between VTM in Belgium and RTL5 in Holland produced by Kanakna, also for a second series.

Barnaby Shingleton, RDFR Head of Light Entertainment Acquisitions, said ‘The ever increasing footprint of So You Think You Can Dance shows how the format remains at the top of the pile when it comes to dance reality competitions. While other shows celebrate celebrity or ephemeral talent, So You Think You Can Dance is unashamedly elitist, attracting the very best dancers a territory has to offer. ’

So You Think You Can Dance continues to go from strength to strength internationally, with local versions airing in the UK, Australia, Germany, Poland, Malaysia, Israel, Greece and Turkey, among others.

So You Think You Can Dance in the US is produced by 19 Entertainment & dick clark productions for The Fox Network.
